Describe how to do a Gram stain step-by-step.

A
  1. Prepare slide with specimen, setting with heat or methanol.
  2. Pour crystal violet over slide and wash off excess after 1 min.
  3. Add iodine and wash off excess after 1 min.
  4. Decolourize with a mix of acetone & alcohol until it runs clear, then wash with water.
  5. Add safranin, wash off and dry slide.
