• HLA
• Human Leukocyte Antigen.
• 5-6 antigens need to match but in some organs only 4 are necessary.
• PRA
• Panel of Reactive Antibodies
• People with lots of transfusions will make antibodies…thus sometimes blood needs to be specialized d/t ability to receive.
• Crossmatch
• Mix blood from recipient and donor and watch for reaction.
• Looking for negative crossmatch = no antibodies.

• Hyperacute (remove organ)
• Acute: happens in 1st six months but can be reversed with immune-suppressant therapy.
• Occurs over months or years: IRreversible. Depending on organ; can develop disease to that organ.
