What is secondary care?

A

Involves services where individuals have to attend as inpatients, or outpatients, and social services. This could be for investigations or treatment for conditions.

What is tertiary care?

A

Includes care that is provided in residential nursing homes, in hospices, through mental health services and in the individuals home. This care is often long term, highly specialised and includes end of life care.
