A3: Trans Theoretical Model Flashcards
(7 cards)
The first stage is precontemplation what does it mean?
No intention to Change unaware of the problem
The second stage is contemplation what does this mean?
Aware of the problem and your thinking about change
3) prepration stage
Planning to take action soon small steps being made
4) action stage?
Actively changing the behaviour steps taken
5) what is the the focus of maintenance
Sustaining the change and preventing relapse
A strength.
One strength is that the model sees behaviour change as a dynamic process.it understands that recovery takes time and people move between stages, which makes it more realistic than “all or nothing models “
One weakness.
One weakness it that research evidence is mixed and often negative.some studies say stage - based models are no better than other methods, and critics argue that the model has serious flaws and should be replaced.
