ABDOMINAL REGION Flashcards
(12 cards)
Anteriolateral wall
Extends from the throacic cage to the pelvis - 5 muscles (2 ventrical, 3 flat)
Linea alba:
Fibers that pass from superficial to deep, extends from the xiphoid process to the pubic symphysis
Inguinal ligament
ASIS to pubic tubercule, separates trunk from lower limbs
External oblique (O, I, A)
O: External surface of ribs 5-12
I: Linea alba, pubic tubercle and anterior iliac crest
A: Assists in torisonal rotation of the trunk
Internal oblique (O,I,A)
O: Thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest/connective tissue, inguinal ligament
I: Inferior border of 10-12 ribs, linea alba and pectin pubic
A: Compress and support abdominal viscera, flex and rotate the trunk
Transverse abdominis (O,I,A)
O: Internal costal cartilage, ribs 7-12, thoracolumbar fasica, iliac crest and injuinal ligament, deep connective tissue
I: Linea alba, and internal oblique aponeurosis, pubic crest and pectin pubis
A: Squeeze visceral organs
Diagastric muscle
2 muscle bellies separated by a tendon
External oblique
Rectus abdominis (O,I,A)
O: Pubic symphysis and pubic crest
I: Xiphoid process and 5th to 7th costal cartilages
A: Flexes trunk and compresses abdominal viscera and controls tilt of pelvis
Pyramidalis (O,I,A)
O: Pubic crest
I: Linea alba
A: Tense the linea alba
Both internal and rectus abdominis
flex the trunk
Both the interal oblique and the transverse abdominis originate
thoracolumbar fasica, iliac crest, connective tissue and inguinal ligamament
Rectus abdominis internal oblique and transverse
Compress organs
