  • Covers the neurocranium from the superior nuchal lines to the supraorbital margins of the frontal bone
  • Skin - Sweat glands and hair follicles
  • Connective tissue - Dense subcutaneous layer, highly vascularized
  • Aponeurosis - Covers the calvaria, attachment for muscles
  • Loose areolar tissue - Sponge-like area that spaces that will distend with fluid if injured
  • Pericranium - Dense layer of connective tissue
