-20th century holds more tolerant views
-Wolfden report=considered evidence from religious leaders, police, and gay communities etc
-SEXUAL OFFENCE ACT DECRIMINALISED HOMOSEXUALITY

-1967-consent age=21
-1994- consent age=18
-2000-consent age=16

Secularization=the declining influence religion has on people.
-religion opposed to homosexuality now carries less weight, many churches have openly gay & lesbian clergy

how has smoking changed policy development?

A

1930-smoking was glamourized and a social norm. wildly accepted. acceptable to smoking indoor with children and doctors would recommend to patients to calm nerves
-health implications changed views and smoking is frowned upon.
1950s-rsearch linking to lung cancer caused growing concern on dangers. doctors stopped advertising it
-campaigns against smoking=restrictive legislation

-TOBACCO ADVERTISING & PROMOTION ACT 2004=BANNED
-HEALTH ACT 2006=prohibits smoking in enclosed public spaces (at least 3 walls and a roof
-CHILDRENS AND FMAILY ACT 2014=illegal to smoke in a vehicle with anyone under 18 present.

how has womens rights changed development policies?

A

-20th century, had very little rights legally & politically
-stereotypes–>women should stay home and do domestic work
-suffragettes movement=fought for right to vote, women rebelled against marriage and wanted educations and equality
-WWII women did jobs traditionally done by men

-1928=given right to vote
-1960s=liberation movement changed policies and thinking. policies became widespread–>concerned about education and employment

1970=EQUAL PAY ACT
1975=SEX DISCRIMINATION ACT
