When inflammatory diarrhoea suspected e.g., severe abdo pain or bloody diarrhoea

A
- Mild to moderate travellers diarrhoea if rapid control of symptoms needed
- 1st line for faecal incontinence where underlying cause has been addressed

A
loose stools for <14 days. Usually resolves within 2-4 days
