Epinephrine

A
  • Nonselective
  • Indications:
    • IM/SubQ: allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
    • IV: cardiogenic shock (cardiac arrest)
    • Aerosol: airway obstruction (bronchospasm)
  • Very high risk for extravasation (antidote: phentolamine mesylate)
  • Side effects: HTN, tachycardia, worsening prostate disease, mydriasis, hypercoaguability, lowers GI motility & secretions, blood shunting, glycogenolysis, NS changes/mental status changes (if crosses BBB)
