Describe pathology of hemangioblastoma

A
  • capillary hemangioma.
    *well circumscribed
  • a highly vascular mural nodule almost always abutting the pial layer and a peripheral cyst that has similar contents as blood plasma. - often xanthochromic
  • IT IS DEBATED IF THE CYST NEEDS TO BE RESECTED.

A

about 90-95% intracranial.
of them:
85% cerebellar hemisphere
10% vermis
5% medulla
only rarely in cerebellopontine angle
*5% SUPRAtentorial.
