What is DNETs?

A
  • Typically in children or young adults.
  • Grade 1 slow growing glioneuronal tumors.
  • Either cortical or grey matter.
  • Arise from secondary germinal layer
  • up to 80% associated with cortical dysplasia.
  • Characteristically cause intractable focal seizures (90%).
  • 65% temporal lobe
  • Heterogenous, often gelatinous w nodules of firmer tissue.
  • T2 bubbly appearance.
  • FLAIR bright rim sign

How are DNETs distinguished from low-grade astrocytomas?
