- Nausea & vomiting
Amiodarone : Adverse
- Hypotension
- Bradycardia
- Dysrythmias
Aspirin : Adverse
- Allergic reactions (e.g. asthma, angioneurotic oedema, rhinitus, urticaria, laryngeal oedema and shock - check for Hx of previous reaction)
- Aggravation of any bleeding tendency
- Gastric irritation (unlikely to be significant with one tablet)
- Bleeding may take longer to stop.
Atropine : Adverse
- Dry mouth
- Blurred vision
- Tachycardia
- Nausea & vomiting
- Hyperthermia
- Dysrhythmias
- Agitation, delirium, hallucinations, seizure and coma may occur in high doses
- Urinary retention
Benzyl Penicillin : Adverse
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur (e.g. urticaria, angio-oedema, convulsions and anaphylaxis)
Calcium Gluconate : Adverse
- May [+] myocardial and cerebral damage by increasing intracellular calcium levels
- Tissue necrosis if extravasation from vein occurs
- Dysrhythmias
Clopidogrel : Adverse
- Allergic reactions (e.g. asthma, angioneurotic oedema, rhinitus, urticaria, laryngeal oedema and shock - check for Hx of previous reaction)
- Aggravation of any bleeding tendency
- Gastric irritation (unlikely to occur with the current dose)
- Bleeding may take longer to stop
Compound Sodium Lactate : Adverse
- Pulmonary Oedema
- Hypothermia
- When given in excess can contribute to coagulopathy (hypothermic & dilutional) and exacerbate acidosis.
Droperidol : Adverse
- Extrapyramidal reactions
- Rarely, neuroleptic malignant syndrome (characterised by muscular rigidity, fever, hyperthermia, altered consciousness and autonomic instability)
Enoxaparin Sodium : Adverse
- Aggravation of any bleeding tendency
- Allergic reactions (e.g. asthma, angioneurotic oedema, rhinitus, urticaria, laryngeal oedema and shock)
- Bleeding may take longer to stop.
Fentanyl : Adverse
- Respiratory depression
- Hypotension
- Nausea & vomiting
Fexofenadine : Adverse
- Headache
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
Frusemide : Adverse
- Excessive diuresis can lead to hypovolaemic shock
2. Potassium loss can precipitate dysrhythmias
Glucagon : Adverse
- Nausea & vomiting
2. Allergic reactions rarely occur
Glucose 10% : Adverse
- Tissue necrosis if extravasation from vein occurs
- May aggravate brain damage in head injuries and strokes
- May precipitate Wernicke’s Encephalopathy in alcoholics with thiamine deficiency.
Glucose Gel : Adverse
May precipitate Wernicke’s Encephalopathy in alcoholics with thiamine deficiency.

- Localised reactions (e.g. inflammation)
Ipratropium Bromide : Adverse
Mild anticholinergic effects (e.g. urinary retention)
Ketamine : Adverse
- Distressing psychological reactions (e.g. agitation, hallucinations and / or dysphoria)
- Nausea & vomiting
- Muscle effects including increased tone, random purposeless movements
Lignocaine : Adverse
- May cause or exacerbate ventricular dysrhythmias
- In high doses, it may cause:
- Neurological side effects (drowsiness, disorientation, agitation, muscle twitching, fits and coma)
- Cardiac effects (hypotension, bradycardia, heart block(s) and asystole)
Methoxyflurane : Adverse
- [-] LOC
2. Renal damage in high doses
