Digital tech took off in the 90s and people 50+ were left behind by the net generation as the younger generation were more inclined to surf the internet but the net generation is now 30-40 and spend a lot of time on their phones

early to mid 2000 era spend lots of time texting rather than talking on the phone, they tend to use instant messenger networks and are more likely to be involved in active and regular engagement with the internet
