19
Q

A

substance or material determined to be capable of posing unreasonable risk to health, safety and property during movement if spilled

21
Q

A

General and Chapter 3

22
Q

General - airlift

A

-Deviations, waivers, special requirements in chapter 2

23
Q

Chapter 3 - airlift

A
  • Tactical, Contingency, or Emergency Airlift
  • Exceptions for DOD, Federal agencies, allies, etc.
  • Only done with validated operational requirements
24
Q
  • There are 9 hazardous materials under the UN classification system
  • each hazard class has its own label
A
  • Hazard classifications are based on chemical and physical characteristics of material and its reaction under various test conditions
  • hazardous materials must have the appropriate label applied consistent with its hazard classification, unless labeling is exempted by regulation
25
HAZMAT CLASSIFICATIONS
CLASS 1-9
26
HAZMAT CLASS 1
Explosives and Ammunition
27
HAZMAT CLASS 2
Compressed Gases
28
HAZMAT CLASS 3
Flammable Liquid
29
HAZMAT CLASS 4
Flammable Solids, Spontaneous Combustible Material, and Dangerous when Wet Material.
30
HAZMAT CLASS 5
Oxidizing Materials and Organic Peroxides
31
HAZMAT CLASS 6
Toxic (Poisonous) Materials, Infectious Substances
32
HAZMAT CLASS 7
Radioactive Material
33
HAZMAT CLASS 8
Corrosive Material
34
HAZMAT CLASS 9
Miscellaneous Hazards
35
HAZMAT CLASS 1.1 explosives
have a mass explosion hazard. a mass explosion is one that affects almost the entire load simultaneously.
36
HAZMAT CLASS 1.2 explosives
have a projection hazard but not a mass explosion hazard
37
HAZMAT CLASS 1.3 explosives
have a fire hazard and a minor bast or a minor projection hazard (or both) but not a mass explosion hazard
38
HAZMAT CLASS 1.4 explosives
present a minor explosion hazard. the explosive effects are largely confined to the package and no projection of fragments of appreciable size or range is to be expected.
39
HAZMAT CLASS 1.5 explosives
have little probability of initiation or of transition from burnig to detonation under normal transport condition.
40
HAZMAT CLASS 1.6 explosives
are extremely insensitive articles which do not have a mass explosion hazard. the risk from these articles is limited to explosion of a single article.
41
Subsidiary Risk
an additional hazardous property of a material other than the primary hazard identified in table A4.1
