Q

Cation Tests

A

Cations are identified by Sodium Hydroxide :
Copper 2 produces a blue ppt.
Iron 2 produces a green ppt.
Iron 3 prodcues a brown ppt.

Q

Anion Tests

A

To aqueous solution of solid under test add few drops of nitric acid followed by few drops of barium nitrate. Chlorides produce white color, Bromide produces Creamy color, Iodide produces yellow.

For Nitrate : Add Sodium Hydroxide and aluminium foil and warm gently , if positive then ammonia will will be produced.
