All Weather Operations Flashcards
(20 cards)
What is the Alert Height?
200ft RA
What level of Autopilot redundancy is provided with LAND 3 annunciated?
Fail Operational.
A single fault cannot prevent the Autopilot system from making an automatic landing.
What Autopilot redundancy is available with LAND 2?
Fail Passive.
A single fault cannot cause significant deviation from the flight path.
Single engine go-around, from a LAND 2 or LAND 3 APP. What happens when LNAV auto engages?
The autopilot will relinquish control of the rudder.
At any change of lateral or vertical mode. Manually or automatically.
You must increase rudder input.
With one Autothrottle unserviceable, is it possible to do a CAT3B approach?
Yes.
FCOM SP16.27
LVO System requirements chart
With one TO/GA switch inoperative, can you conduct a CAT3A approach?
Yes.
You only need LAND 2 to do a CAT3A approach. And according to the MEL one TO/GA inop = NO LAND 3. The autoland system is not fail-operational.
Both TO/GA switches inop, can you conduct an LVO approach?
No.
NO LAND 3 or NO AUTOLAND message may show.
Not fail-operational.
Autopilot and Flight Diectors cannot be used below 500’ AGL or MDA, whichever is higher.
Ref: MEL
Can you do a Cat3B approach with one Flight Director inop?
No.
System downgraded to LAND 2.
One Autopilot disconnect switch is inoperative. Can you do a Cat2 approach?
No.
Downgraded to NO AUTOLAND.
Cannot use autopilot at 1500’ AGL or below.
PFD LOC and G/S deviation indicator turning amber and flashing?
Excessive deviation from the required path at low RA
Flashing LOC or GP deviation during approach above Alert Height?
Make sure the aircraft is correcting, the approach may be continued.
Flashing LOC or GP deviation on approach BELOW Alert Height
Go-Around.
Unless visual. Disconnect autopilot and do manual landing
Master Caution light and Aural signal below Alert Height. What is the significance?
If you get a Master Caution Light and/or Aural signal below 200’ AGL, Go-Around unless you can make a visual landing.
- unrelated Caution Alerts are inhibited.
- EICAS messages will still appear, just the Light and Beeper are inhibited.
What FMA modes do you expect to see near touchdown and when?
40’RA = Flare
25’Ra = Idle
On runway = Rollout
PM calls
No Flare, Retard, No Rollout
Short Term Interference on ILS instructations
Erratic raw data indications.
Autopilot will continue in attitude stabilised mode based on ADIRU data.
ILS signal is disregarded by the A/P
What indications would you expect during Long Term Interference of ILS signal?
A/P remains in attitude stabilised mode.
- amber line through affected modes
- EICAS caution message
I.e- autopilot - Master caution lights and beeper
- FD command bar(s) disappear
Max wind components for non contaminated landing in LVP
Head: 25kts
XWind: 25kts
Tail: 15kts
Max XWind component landing contaminated runway
Contaminated: 15
EICAS message that affects LVO capability without causing a change on AFDS status or a Note in the checklist.
Single Source Displays - No LVO
Min autopilot disconnect height if LAND 3 or LAND 2 is not annunciated
200’ AGL
