Amp 2 study elbow Flashcards
(6 cards)
Contents cubital fossa
Median nerve
Brachial artery
Tendon of bicep brachii
Radial nerve
Motor supply of median nerve
Supplies all flexor muscles EXCEPT those supplied by ulna nerve
Motor supply of ulna nerve
Supplies flexor carpi ulnaris and ulnar head of flexor digitroum profundus
Motor supply of radial nerve
Supplies all the muscles back of arm, all wrist extensors and brachioradialis + supinator
Explain active insuffiency and example at wrist
When a muscle cannot contract fully across all the joints = produces less force
Example
Flexor digitorum profundus - Hard to make fist as wrist is flexed as muscle is already shortened
Explain Passive Insuffiency and give example at wrist
When a muscle is stretched over multiple joints + limits movement because can’t stretch further
Example at wrist: Extensor digitorum - hard to fully extend fingers when wrist is flexed as muscle is too stretched
