A
  • last 10 mins

Q

Inflammation

A
  • following bleeding phase, inflammatory response occurs
  • blood vessels dilate, increasing blood flow to the area - brings immune cells (neutrophils + macrophages) to the site of injury
-These clear cell debris + pathogens, while also releasing signaling molecules that facilitate healing

Q

Proliferation

A
  • 3 days - 3 weeks
  • new granulation tissue forms
  • fibroblasts proliferate + synthesize collagen + extracellular matrix, providing structural support
  • formation new blood cells occur ensuring new tissue recieves adequate nutrients + oxygen
  • epithelial cells may also proliferate to establish the skin barrier if injury is superficial
