Q

what is moment of force (torque) dependant on

A
  • greater the size of the force the greater the torque
  • application of the same force further away from the axis willl increase the torquw

6
Q

how is moment of force/torque calculated

A

moment of force/torque (Nm)= force (N) X perpendicular distance from the fulcrum (M)

moment of force can either be an effort or resistance arm
resistance arm= shortest perpendicular distance from resistance and fulcrum
effort arm= shortest perpendicular distance form effort and fulcrum
