Animal, plant cells and prokaryotic cells Flashcards
(15 cards)
What is the function of a nucleus?
Controls the cell and the cell division, contains the DNA. (not found in prokaryotic cells)
What is the function of cytoplasm?
Where chemical reactions take place.
What is the function of a cell membrane?
Controls what enters and exits the cell.
What is the function of mitochondria?
It releases energy, the sight of aerobic resperation. (not found in prokaryotic cells)
What is the function of a cell wall?
Cells walls maintain the cell shape, resisting torgor pressure. (not found in animal cells)
What is the function of chloroplast?
Allows for for phytosnthesis to take place. (only found in plant cells)
What is the function of a vacuole?
Contains the cells saps (a soloution of minerals and sugars). (only found in plant cells).
What is the function of a ribosome?
Sight of protein synthesis
Label the animal cell attached.

Label the plant cell attached.

What is the funciton of the plasmid?
Contains genes that are seperate to the chromosones. (only found in prokaryotic cells)
What is the function of the Flagellum?
Allows for the cell to move. It is locomotion. (only found in prokaryotic cells).
What is the function of the pili?
Allows for the exchnage of genetic materials. (only found in prokaryotic cells)
What is the function of the slime capsule?
For protection and to prevnet being digested. Also allows bacteria to stick to it. (only found in prokaryotic cells)
What is the function of the circular chromosome?
Stores DNA and controls cell devision. (only found in prokaryotic cells)
