Anxiety
Negative emotional state that is either characterised by or associated with feelings of nervousness, apprehension and worry
Stress
A pattern of negative physiology states and psychological responses occurring in situations where people perceive threats to their well-being
Cognitive Anxiety

Somatic Anxiety
Physiological:

Trait Anxiety
When someone worries in a variety of situations, aspect of personality
State Anxiety
Temporary, ever changing mood state that is an emotional response to any situation considered to be threatening
Multidimensional Anxiety Theory
States there is a relationship between cognitive and somatic anxiety, and confidence and performance. An increase in anxiety causes a decrease in performance
Reversal Theory
If an athlete perceives symptoms of anxiety as positive, there will be an increase in performance
