AO3 SLT Flashcards
(4 cards)
What is the practical application for SLT
The principles of the theory that behaviour is caused by observing and imitating a model, which has been used by the government to control how the media portray certain behaviours e.g restricted the advertisement of cigarettes, alcohol and gambling
What is an alternative explanation for SLT?
The bio approach suggest behaviour is due to hormones or genes rather than learning through observation
What does SLT underestimate
It underestimates the role of hormones in Bandura’s research as one consistent finding was that the boys were more aggressive than the girls. This difference can be explained by hormones rather than observation and imitation
How does SLT go beyond the behaviourist approach?
It considers how humans have an element of free will as we have the ability to choose who we model our behaviour from
