Appealing To Thr Constitutional Court Flashcards
(6 cards)
Appealing to the constitutional court:
KU: Citizens can appeal to the court if they feel their constitutional rights are being violated
the court makes rulings which the govt must act upon. For example
A: This is important because it means that citizens can participate by having their opinions listened to and then have the govt make new laws if it it’s important enough.
KU:In 2018 three men appealed to the constitutional court saying that the law saying adults can’t use cannabis in their home went against their constitutional right to privacy
the appeal was successful and the law was changed
A: this is important because it shows that you can appeal to the constitutional court for many reasons and still be successful if the matter is seen as important enough.
E:Overall
this is a bad way of participating for people who have less significant issues however it is a good way for those with big issues affecting their life to appeal and try and get a law passed for themselves and everyone
