Purpose
To understand the undesirable consequences of internal and external forces on the enterprise during a transition to or in the future state
Understand the potential impact can be used to make recommendation about course of action
Description
Assessing risks includes: analyzing + managing them
Risk analyze for:
-possible consequences if the risk occurs
-impact of those consequences
-likelihood of the risk
-potential time frame when the risk might occur

- Unknowns
Uncertainty the likelihood of it occurring and the impact if it does occur
Lesson learned from past changes and expert judgment from sh assist BA guide team in deciding the impact and likelihood of risk

Can be analyzed for risk and sometimes should be managed as risk themselves

Risk level can be quantified in financial terms, or in an amount of time, effort or other measures

- Risk tolerance
- Risk aversion: UNwilling accept much certainty, avoid high level of risk or to invest more to reduce the risk
- Neutrality: some level of risk is acceptable, provided the course of some action does not results in a loss even if risk occur
- Risk seeking: willingness to accept or even take more risk in return for higher potential value
