Assessment task Flashcards
(11 cards)
Law of conservation of mass
Matter can neither be created or destryoed but only changed
Balanced Equation
Same number of elements on each side
Quantitive calculations
How much is needed to reacted with a given mass, called stoichiometry
Relative atmoic mass (Atomic weight)
Average mass of the atoms present in the naturally occurring elemtn relative to the mass of a carbon-12 isotope atom
The relative molecular mass (Molecule Weight)
Mass of a molecule of the compound relative to the mass of an atom of the carbon 12 isotope. Sum of the relative atomic masses
Relative formula mass
Sum of the relative atomic masses as given in the formula of a compound. Used for Ionic compounds as Ions don’t have discrete molecules and thus calculated in ratio.
Mole
A quantity that contains as many units they are atoms in Carbon-12
Avogadros constant
6.022x10^23
Molar mass
Mass in one mole
Mass to mole formula
n=m/MM
Moles to # of atoms
N= nx Na
