What is a stabilising assist?

A
  • stabilise from the ground up
  • pressing into the 4 corners of their feet, stacking knee over the ankle

What is a directional assist?

A
  • direct the students toward their potential
  • drawing attention to one place to engage, relax, extend, flex
  • remain directional not forceful

What is a deepening assist?

A
  • deepen the expression of the pose and open avenues for students to feel and experience a place they may not yet have been in their practice
  • acknowledging that the student has a good foundation and awareness before offering this assist

Importance of the entry and exit

A
  • check in - am i breathing, lets the student know you have arrived
  • know what you intend before you step in
  • check out - once the assist has been given, you need to move on
  • soften your touch and move with awareness out of their space
