Describe the triadic model

A

An attitude is made up of 3 components:
Cognitive component-beliefs and knowledge an individual has “I know running is good for me”
Affective component-emotional feelings towards something “Running is a pleasurable activity”
Behavioural component-how you will behave/respond to something “I will continue to run 3 times a week

Describe the 4 parts of persuasive communication

A

The persuader: the person needs to be one who is perceived to be significant and to have high status

The message: this needs to be presented in a way that makes performer to change an attitude

The recipient: the attitude is more easily changed if the recipient really wishes to be changed

The situation: attitudes are easier to change if there are other persuaders present
