A

fine: involves small muscle movements which are often precise and accurate
Darts throw
Bowl in bowling
Snooker shot

Gross: involves large muscle movements in large muscle groups
Rugby tackle
100m sprint
Deadlift in weightlifting

A

open: skills that are affected by the environment (unstable and changing)
A bat in cricket
Receiving a serve in tennis/badminton

Closed: skills that are unaffected by the environment

A

self paced: a skill in which the start is controlled by the performer (constant environment)
triple/long/high jump
discus/javelin throw
Serve in tennis/badminton

externally paced: a skill in which the start is controlled by external factors (changing environment)
Any sprinting events
A block in basketball
saving a penalty in football

Define and give examples of discrete serial and continuous skills

A

Discrete: skills that have a clear beginning and end
darts throw
volley in football
pass in basketball
serve in tennis
golf swing

Continuous: skills that have no clear beginning and end (the end of one movement is that start of the next)
swimming
running
cycling

Serial: when many discrete skills are grouped together to bring about movement
floor routine in gymnastics,because it involves spinning,rolling,jumping etc

A

simple: skills that require little concentration and thought (low perceptual load, few decisions)
Swimming
short pass in football/basketball/netball

jumping
catching in basketball/netball

complex: skills that require a high concentration and thought (high perceptual load and many decisions)

golf swing
vault in gymnastics
discus throw
