Behaviour Management Flashcards
(3 cards)
How do you promote positive behaviour in your lessons?
I set, clear expectations which follow behaviour policy in the PE department, from the outset and reinforce them consistently are use routines praise and positive reinforcement to create a culture of respect and accountability. My lessons are engaging and purposeful which reduces the opportunity for disruption. I build strong relationships with students who responds positively and feel supported. I also use restorative conversations when needed and work closely with pastoral staff or learning support assistants to support students, who need a..
How do you handle low-level disruption?
I deal with low-level disruption quickly and promptly using non-verbal cues and quite reminders to redirect behaviour. If disruption persist. I apply the consequences in line with the department or school policy. While maintaining a calm professional demeanour. I reflect on what causes the behaviour and speak to students privately to restore relationships and understand any underlying issues. I maintain consistency and fairness as I believe this is vital to maintaining a positive classroom environment.
A, student is refusing to take part in your lesson and is being highly destructive. What do you do?
After ensuring that I have used the immediate schools policy on behaviour, using the praise code, going through C1, a verbal warning, C2 a second, verbal warning, and C3 a written warning. I would continue to follow the schools policy and issue the student with an amber card where they can stand outside of the learning environment, whether that is in the corridor or in PE somewhere away from the class and inform that they will be spoken to very shortly, if after using the amber card and having a private conversation about their behaviour, and what they expect when returning, they do not behave, I would resort to using the red card system where the student would have to be removed from the lesson using an on call system. Depending on how destructive the student is, in this case, it may be that C1 and C2 wouldn’t be used and I would go straight to using C3 or Amber. When having a conversation with the student I would remain calm, I would also remain firm but fair and remind students of the expectations and what they did not choose to follow. I would then invite the student to join the lesson again and remind them of the expectations, and what could happen if they don’t return in a positive demeanour.
