Wider School Flashcards
(2 cards)
How do you develop students personal skills through school ethos?
I develop students personal and academic skills through my role. As a form teacher. I make sure that all students are welcomed into a safe and positive environment to start the day. I make sure that they understand the expectations at follow, for example, their uniform and organisation of equipment, or being on time to lessons I promote positive values which are similar to the values of praise, Great Park Academy. I make sure I build relationships with students and discover ways to praise them for their efforts in school and in the wider community. For example, if a student has been a part of a school production or been awarded a certificate that has been successful, I would make sure to give them lots of praise, and promote this to other students. As a PE teacher, this is especially important as I would strongly promote being a part of the PE culture, getting involved with as many sports and fixtures as possible to ensure a lifelong learning of PE and a holistic approach making sure that once a child leave school, they are physically literate enough to maintain a healthy lifestyle on their own.
What experience have you had where you feel you have contributed to the wider school community?
I feel that I’ve contributed to my current positions school community in several ways as a catholic school ethos is very important and I have contributed bye celebrating the success of my form and those in PE. For example, I have been heavily involved in the celebration of success in PE. I have experience in delivering awards to students for their contribution to sport and extracurricular PE. I have also had experience on school trips, such as residentials Kilda, where students have shown resilience and determination using teamwork whilst promoting positive attitudes towards outdoor activities. I have also been involved in the annual retreat where students explore spirituality, and form connections with other students outside of a classroom environment
