Q

How do you ensure high quality teaching and learning in your PE lessons?

A

I start the lesson by clearly stating the outcomes that every child should achieve, then like to use practice and retrieval strategies, such as the use of reading comprehensions and technology, for example Plickers oh quick fire, low stakes, questioning to ensure students are remembering knowledge whether that’s in preparation for their exams as a GCSE student or to remember their learning in practical lessons to ensure a healthy lifestyle is it here to outside of school. This also helps me to ensure that any misconceptions are eliminated, early and key concepts are reinforced. I also like to ensure that the lessons at their core are enjoyable and engaging to promote a positive attitude towards learning in PE. The use of assessment for learning strategies, including mini whiteboards and Realtime assessment helps me to understand where my students are at and who needs that support, I also encourage students to explore their learning in the wider context and relate their knowledge to aspirational career paths. I am confident in my knowledge across P, whether that is in different sports or in exam classes such as GCSE I know that I am confident I can insure every lesson is a high quality lesson.
- enjoyable engaging and accessible for all.
