1st line?

First line: parent training programmes/family education**
Second line: child focussed programmes involving anger management, social skills, problem solving
What is conduct disorder?
repetitive and persistent pattern of antisocial behaviour for over 6 months, specifically for under 18s
What are the features of conduct disorder?
- bullying / stealing / fighting / fire-setting
- aggression towards animal and people
- destruction of property and violation of rules

What is oppositional defiant disorder?
oppositional defiant disorder is a milder form of conduct disorder, have markedly defiant, disobedient, distruptive behaviour but no delinquint acts or more extreme forms of aggression.
What future complications may affect someone with conduct disorder?
50% will develop substance misuse problems, or antisocial personality disorder as adults
How to manage conduct disorder
2nd line?
Second line: child focused programmes involving anger management, social skills, problem solving
What are the risk factors for conduct disorder (this is catergorised into 3 factors)
- child factors: low IQ ,chronic illness
- family factors: poor parenting, parental criminality, FH of substance misuse, maternal depression
- Environmental factors: urban upbringing, deprivation, low socioeconomic status
