dendrites
branching extensions of the cell body. receives messages from neurons

long extrusion of neuron. covered with myelin sheaths to speed up and insulate messages thru neurons.

nerve cell that communicates thru an electrochemical process.
axon terminal / terminal branches
branched ends of axons. transmits messages to other neurons
synapse / synaptic gap / synaptic cleft
junction between the axon tip of sending neuron and the dendrite / cell body of receiving neuron.
neutrotransmitters
chemicals released from sending neuron. Travels across synapse and binds to receptors.

- low: depression

reward, motivates, movement, attention, memory

brief electrical charge that travels down an axon and is generated by the movement of positively charged atoms in & out of channels
