2
Q

What does blood plasma transport (3)

A
  1. Soluble digestion products - (glucose from small intestine)
  2. Carbon dioxide - (produced by aerobic respiration) from organs to lungs to be breathed out
  3. Waste product - (urea from liver to kidneys to be excreted out in urine)

6
Q

How are red blood cells specialised and why

A

No nucleus= more room for haemoglobin
Biconcave shape = greater surface area so oxygen can diffuse in and out rapidly

Q

3 uses of donated blood

A
  1. Replace blood lost during an injury
  2. Some people are given platelets extracted from blood to help in clotting
  3. Proteins extracted from blood can also be useful e.g. antibodies

Q

What things do you need to be careful about in blood transfusion
