Reproductive

A

Not essential to individual survival but for the survival of the species.

Female reproductive organs: vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries

Male reproductive organs: testes, epididymis, prostate

Integumentary

A

Protects the human body from damage serves as a waterproof cushion to protect deeper tissue.

Consists of skin and appendages which include hair and nails.

Urinary

A

Removes dangerous waste products from our blood, and expels them from our urine.

Involves blood through kidneys, with special filters allowing dangerous substances to pass out of the bloodstream.

Consists of kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra.

Lymphatic

A

Using white blood cells which especially target and destroy invading pathogens.

Lymph tissue is located in the bone marrow, spleen, lymph nodes and tonsils.

Muscular

A

A special type of tissue in the body that have the ability to contract and relax.

Muscle types include: skeletal, cardiac (only found in the heart) and smooth muscles (internal, found in the digestive tract)

Endocrine

A

Secretes hormones to regulate functions like growth, mood, development and metabolism.

Consists of glands in the human body. They perform their function by attaching to the target cells and communicating with them.

Skeletal

A

A hard framework of the human body.

Joints are especially important as they allow movement throughout bones.

Consists of bones, associated cartilages and joints.

Nervous

A

Allows us to sense stimuli such as light, sounds, smells and touch from our environment.

It allows rapid communication of stimuli within our body such as sensations of pain, illness and wellness.

Consists of the brain and spinal cord.

Cardiovascular

A

Responsible for the flow of blood, nutrients, hormones, oxygen to and from the cell.

Vast networks of organs and vessels.

Cardiac= heart Vascular= blood vessels

Respiratory

A

Takes oxygen from the environment and converts it into a form that cells can use.

Consists of the airway (nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi)

Digestive

A

Takes in food and processes it to obtain useful nutrients.

Consists of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, gall bladder.
