Research support - Hazan and shaver

A

Procedure:
- Published Love quiz in an American newspaper experinces
- collected info from people about early attachment and their current romantic attitudes
Found:
- individuals who whee securely attached as infants tended to have happy and lasting love relationships and to belie that love could last
- insecure types found relationships easy more likely to be divorced , true
love was rare

Contradictory research

A

Rutter et al
- infants abandoned or orphaned and raised in institutions
- infants able to form attach to with their adopted parents even when they had reached 2 1/2 years of age

Lamb et al
- attachments to different people were not identical it wasn’t tat they were in a hierarchy of importance eg infants go to father to play but mothers for comfort
