A traction injury during delivery
What are risk factors of perinatal brachial plexus injury?
Shoulder dystocia (catching of shoulder)
Birth weight > 90th percentile
Prolonged labor
Breech delivery

Nerve rootlets attached to spinal cord
Anterior or posterior nerve rootlets
