A
allows carbon dioxide to be absorbed into plants

carbon dioxide is transferred from the plants to the animals (introduced to food chain)

carbon dioxide is then released through respiration

decomposers break down dead organisms, returning the carbon dioxide into the soil

some organisms don’t decompose, but fossilise and form coal and oil (still containing carbon)
