What is the blood plasma?
Liquid in blood that transports cells and platelets around body. Also carries waste co2 into lungs and urea from liver to kidney.
What is a red blood cells?
Cells that carry oxygen from the lungs to all the areas in the body that it is needed in.
Doesnt have nucleus and is shaped to make it more effective.
What are white blood cells?
They form part of the bodies defence system. Some form antibodies some form antitoxins ans others engulf invading bacteria.
What are platelets?
Fragments of cells without nucleus that form blood clots when needed.
What are the arteries?
Blood vessel that Take blood away from the heart to the body and tissue. Has thick wall of muscle to withstand blood pressure.
What are veins and their function?
These blood vessels collect blood from the capillaries and take blood back to the heart. The walls of veins are thin as the blood is in much lower pressure. They also have valves.
What are capillaries?
The capillaries are the smallest of the blood vessels . They are thin walled vessels that form a network that takes blood all through the necessary tissues in the body.
What are the three types of valve found in the heart?
Bicuspid
Tricuspid
Semilunar
