Diets And Our Body Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is the name pf the point where the reaction is fastest?
Optimum
When does an enzyme controlled reaction become impossible
When it becomes denatured
What effects do temperature have on enzyme breakdown have
Increased kinetic energy
More frequent collision and more frequent
Rate of reaction increases up till optimum point
What are the effects of pH?
The acidity of the area that the the enzyme is reacting in has an optimum point. Different enzymes have different ideal acidity levels. For example some enzymes have more range for the pH they can work in but some have a very limited range.
What is the pH scale and what colour range does it have?
1 to 14 red to purple
What are the enzymes responsible for carbohdrates
Carbohydrase enzymes
Example of one is amylase.
What is responsible for the breakdown of protein.
Protease enzymes
For example pepsin
What is responsible for fat breakdown
Lipase enzymes
For example glycerol
