-grain makes thiaminase (B1) in rumen & no thymen to brain = disorientation

-hunched body, hesitant to walk
-high grain ration = show animal
-penis: gritty material on prepuce, vermiform appendage blocked
-high BUN, creatinine, K, fibrinogen
-enlarged bladder w crystals & high pH urine
-ruminant urolithiasis
>high grain, low roughage = high phos, low Ca
>decrease saliva = extra phos removed from blood by kidney & excreted in urine -> urine phos high -> phos settle into stone pellets
