Ch 3.4 - Acceleration (On the Move) Flashcards
An object whose speed is changing is said to accelerate (gain in speed).
Acceleration tells us how fast the speed of something is changing.
Acceleration tells us how much the speed changes in one second.
(lots of sums to practise - go through notebook and test copy as well)
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion
First Law -
Every object continues in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless a force acts on it to change its state.
Third Law -
Forces always occur in pairs called action and reaction. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Newton’s Second Law
What happens when a force acts on an object?
When a force acts on an object of constant mass, an acceleration results with the product of mass and acceleration equal to the applied force.
