18
Q

What is indicated altitude?

A

The altitude after setting the altimeter to the local setting.

19
Q

What is absolute altitude?

A

The height above the surface (AGL).

20
Q

What is true altitude?

A

Height above MSL

21
Q

What is pressure altitude?

A

Altitude as measured at altimeter setting 29.92 above the standard datum plane

22
Q

What is density altitude?

A

Pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature and pressure.

23
Q

What is the maximum distance to find a local altimeter setting?

24
Q

How does acceleration create compass errors?

A

On east or west, compass will point north with accelerating, and point south when decelerating.

25
Where are operating limitations found?
Flight manual, markings and placards
26
When may a private pilot act as PIC with paying passengers (not just splitting costs)?
If the payment goes to a charitable organization.
27
How does acceleration or deceleration affect the compass when on a north or south heading?
No effect. The compass will only indicate turns when on an east or west heading.
28
If you are on a northern course and turn to the left, what will happen to the compass?
It will initially indicate a turn to the right, because by turning you are accelerating to the west, causing the compass to err towards the north away from your turn.
29
What happens to the compass if you are on an easterly course and turn to the right?
You are decelerating from your easterly course, and so the compass may exaggerate the turn.
