Instruments Flashcards
(26 cards)
When going from high temp to low temp, the altimeter will indicate what?
Higher altitude than true altitude. From high to low, look out below.
What are the pitot static instruments?
Airspeed, altitude, and vertical speed indicator.
What are the magnetic instruments?
Compass and heading indicator
What are the gyroscopic instruments?
Attitude indicator
Turn coordinator
Heading indicator
What is calibrated airspeed?
Corrections to IAS for installation and instrument errors
When does true airspeed equal indicated airspeed?
Sea level at 29.92 hg
What is the default glider transponder code?
1202
What is pressure altitude?
The indicated altitude when altimeter setting is 29.92.
How is the compass affected by turns?
Turns from the north, the compass lags.
Turns from the south, the compass leads.
What is deviation error?
Magnetic disturbances inside the aircraft disturb the compass.
What is Vso?
Stall speed in landing configuration (bottom of white arc)
What is Vfe?
Maximum flap speed (top of white arc)
What is Vs1
Stall speed in normal flight (bottom of green arc)
What is Vno?
Maximum structural cruising speed (top of green arc)
What is Vne?
Never exceed speed, top of yellow arc marked in red
What is Vle?
Maximum landing gear extended speed
What is Va?
Design maneuvering speed
What is indicated altitude?
The altitude after setting the altimeter to the local setting.
What is absolute altitude?
The height above the surface (AGL).
What is true altitude?
Height above MSL
What is pressure altitude?
Altitude as measured at altimeter setting 29.92 above the standard datum plane
What is density altitude?
Pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature and pressure.
What is the maximum distance to find a local altimeter setting?
100 nm
How does acceleration create compass errors?
On east or west, compass will point north with accelerating, and point south when decelerating.
