Insertion - Base of second metacarpal
Action - Extend and abduct the wrist. Assit to flex the elbow
Nerve - Radial C5,6,7,8
Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis
Origin - Common extensor tendon from the lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion - Base of third metacarpal
Action - Extend and abduct the wrist. Assist to flex the helbow
Nerve - Radial C6,7,8
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
Origin: Humeral head; Common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerus
Ulnarhead: posterior surface of proximal two thirds of ulna
Insertion: pisiform, hook of the hamate, and base of fifth metacarpal
Action: Flex and adduct the wrist, assist to flex the elbow
Nerve: Ulnar C7,8,T1
Flexor Carpi Radialis
Origin - common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: Bases of second and third metacarpals
Action: Flex and abduct the wrist, may assist to flex the elbow
Nerve:L Media C6,7,8
Extensor Digitorum
Origin: common extensor tendon from the lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion: bases of middle and distal phalanges of second through fifth fingers
Action: Extend the second through fifth fingers (metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints)
Nerve: Radial C6,7,8
Palmaris longus
Origin - comon flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion - flexor retinaculum and palmar aponeurosis
Action - tense the palmar fascia; flex the wrist, may assist to flex the elbow
Median c6,7,8,t1
Flexor digitorum superficials
origin: common flexor tendon from medial epicondyle of humerus, ulnar collateral ligament, coronoid process of ulna, interosseous membran and proximal shaft of the radas
insertion: sides of middle phalanges of second through fifth fingers
action: flex the esecond through fifth fingers, flex the wrist
nerve: median c7,8,t1
Flexor Pollicis Longus
Origin - anterior surface of radius and interosseous membrane
Insertion: base of distal phalanx and thumb
Action: flex the thumb, assist to flex the wrist
nerve: media c6,7,8,t1
Opponens Pollicis
Origin: flexor retinaculum and tubercle of the trapezium
insertion: entire length of first metacarpal bone, radial surface
Action: opposition of the thumb at the carpometacarpal joint
nerve: median c6,7,8,t1
Extensor Pollicis Longus
Origin: posterior surface of ulna and interosseous membrane
Insertion: base of distal phalanx of thumb
Action: Extend the thumb, abduct the wrist
nerve: radial c6,7,8
Opponens digit minimi
origin: hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum
insertion: shaft of fifth metacarpal, ulnar surface
action: opposition of the fifth finger at the carpometacarpal joint
