What did Sacco and Vanzetti do (or not do)

A

They were italian immigrants arrested and accused of armed robbery in May 1920. They were found to be carrying guns and they claimed to be anarchists. There was little concrete evidence but they were found guilty and executed in 1927 after years of legal appeal

A

Why was the KKK popular

A

It appealed to many rural americans who harboured racist sentiments anyway, but the Klan also gave members a sense of importance, belonging and power. The secretive nature of the Klan added glamour to the lives of many. Also appealed to sadistic and violent tendencies

A

-Many members realised they were being exploited, with robes costing $3.38 to make and being sold for $6.50. This fuelled the leaders extravegant lifestyle
-The leader of the Indiana Klan, David Stevenson, raped a woman who later commited suicide. He was convicted of second degree murder, killing off Klan support
