Independent variable: What the experimenter has control over
Dependent variable: Results under study
Experimental group: The group(s) under study
Controls: Important for comparison with the experimental group
Baseline: Measures the behavior before the experiment begins
Replication: When a completed experiment is copied for purposes of continuity and results

  1. Correlational research: Looks at the relationship between 2 or more variables.
  2. Experimental Research: To draw potential conclusions about cause and effect.
  3. Naturalistic Observation: Subject(s) are observed in their natural setting.
  4. Surveys: Poorly constructed questions can reveal ambiguous findings.
    5.Case Studies: Behavior of one person is studied in depth.
