The Church established a Roman Inquisition, to make sure Catholics didn’t stray from their faith, Church officials created a list of books they objected to, which were collected by Church clergy and burned, and lastly, the Church applied gentler methods to broaden its appeal, like building new, larger churches to hold more worshippers. They developed a new religious order called the Society of Jesus, whose followers were known as Jesuits. THe church instituted reforms, formed the Council of Trent.
