What is Rhythm?
Durations of sound and silences. Pattern of long and short sounds as you move through the song.
What is Pulse?
Steady beat.
What is a beat?
A regular recurrent pulsation that divides music into equal units of time. Basic unit of time.
What is a Meter?
Organization of beats into regular groups.
What is a Measure?
A group of notes, that has length specified by the time signature.
What is the Downbeat?
The first stressed beat.

What is Accent?
A note is emphasized, stressed, stronger. An attack is placed on a particular note.
What is Syncopation?
Placement of rhythmic stresses or accents on non-important Beas, where they normally wouldn’t occur.

The speed of the beat

Very slow, broad
What is Grave tempo?
Very slow, solemn

Slow

Moderately slow, walking pace
