What is the Period of Zygote?
1-2 Weeks
Where is the Egg Fertilized?
In the fallopian tube
What happens in the Fallopian Tube?
- Rapid cell division
- after about four days, the zygote is called a blastocyst
What is Placenta:
The biggest gland cause secretes hormones that support pregnancy
Genetically matches the future baby, but the basis of its made of maternal tissue
What Does Placenta do:
Supplies oxygen, removes carbon dioxide, filters waste products, supplies nutrients
What are Endometrium Cells?
very tightly aligned and packed with lethal immune cells
How do misscarriages Occur?
Embryo needs to start and keep on sending active hormonal signals, and if it can’t, it will miscarrages
What is the Period of the Embryo?
Weeks 3-8
What is an Embryo?
A blastocyst that is completely embedded into the uterine wall
Body structures and internal organs are formed during this period
What are the three layers of cells?
- Ectoderm –> hair, outer layer of skin, nervous system
- Mesoderm –> muscles, bones, circulatory system
- Endoderm –> digestive system and the lungs
Where Does the embryo Rest?
The Amniotic Sac, which is filled with amniotic fluid

Embryo to placenta
